Easter Brunch Recipe – Baked French Toast

This past Christmas my Granny gave me the best gift ever – a recipe book filled with her recipes. She added notes of where she got the recipes, and when she has used the recipes…it brought my to tears. I was browsing through it this weekend, looking for recipes I’d like to try this week. The first one I picked was Baked French Toast. Sounds kind of amazing right? And I think it would be perfect for Easter brunch next weekend!

Ingredients:
1 loaf Kings Hawaiian Bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
5 eggs
2 c milk
1/2 c maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt

Place cubed bread cubes into a greased 9x13x2 inch pan.Beat the cream cheese until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Mix in remaining ingredients until blended. Pour mixture over bread. Press bread into the liquid. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Next morning, bake uncovered at 350 degrees about 40 minutes, or until knife inserted comes out clean. Let cool for 30 minutes before eating.

We topped ours with butter and powdered sugar. Yum! And since it sits in the fridge overnight, there’s really NO work in the morning. Always a bonus. Enjoy! xo JA
