Doily Lace Candle Votive Tutorial

I have had a doily table runner laying around the house forever. It didn’t look right on our table so I didn’t know what to do with it. I ended up using it to make the candle votives on our night stand a little prettier.

Now, this tutorial can be done in several other ways. Lace can be used instead of a doily. Vases or mason jars can be used instead of candle votives. The possibilities are endless but the end result is the same: pretty!

What you’ll need:
Doily or Lace
Votive(s)
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Fabric Stiffener (optional)

If the fabric you are using frays easily, you will want to spray it with some fabric stiffener before you begin. First you’ll need to cut your fabric to the measurements of your votive. If you are using lace, make sure to follow the design pattern instead of cutting straight across. Make sure to make the fabric about 1/2 inch longer so you have space for glueing.

Once the fabric is trimmed to the correct measurements, wrap it around the votive and secure with hot glue. Make sure to get some glue on the votive as well, to keep the fabric attached.

And that’s it! It’s a very easy way to add a little extra ambience to any room. These are also perfect for table displays at weddings!
