The relationship I was in before dating J was 6 years of not celebrating Valentine’s Day, or really any holiday or birthday for that matter, because we were broke college students who just didn’t care. Now I’m in a better financial state (and better relationship) and I’m still just not into the holiday. Like, make me a handmade card and I’m good to go (go figure). (And don’t you dare get me chocolates because you know I’m trying to eat better.)
When I talk about Valentine’s Day plans, it’s in a “We should probably do something, huh?” kind of way. “I guess we could go to a movie…we’ve been wanting to see Les Miserable anyways.” And honestly, now I feel like the work craziness I experience before the holiday impacts these feelings even more. I’m in a state of I don’t want to do anything but sit here on the couch.
But this most likely will not stop me from getting dressed up, putting on my festive Much Love Illy headband (20% off with the code SPRINGCLEANING) and get lovey dovey with J. Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
Also, two big things happening on the blog tomorrow! Stay tuned for a HUGE giveaway. And also, the winner of the 11×17 poster for my Customer Appreciation Giveaway will be chosen! Have you entered yet?
Also just want to throw in a quick thank you for all your comments on yesterday’s post. It’s a special thing to be a part of such an amazing supportive community. Thank you! xo JA
ok, this headband is too cute for words on your head! you need to rock more headbands!
Ooh, I’m not the only one who is not into Valentine’s Day either (but I am highly looking forward to giving my husband your hilarious card tomorrow!).
I’ve never been super excited about Valentines Day either. It feels forced. But it always nice to get presents 🙂
I think it’s nice to put the day aside for each other and just take time to do something different 🙂

We don’t really celebrate it. We usually stay home and eat something nice and make dessert.
We are the exact same way! I would rather cuddle on the couch with some good Chinese food! We don’t get each other anything either.
Valentine’s Day is not a big thing here. It’s kind of the same thing every year. I get him a card and a giftcard or something else small and he always buys me flowers. Usually roses, from a corner store because he remembers me telling him they smell better from there lol. Other than that it is a normal day. Kind of feels more like a habit, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me happy to see those flowers every year 🙂 even though I’m not a ‘flower’ person. lol
I’m planning a wedding and would love to use this to help me beef up the budget!
I have to work late today, so we don’t have anything big planned. I think HE is going to make dinner tonight, and have it ready for me when I get home. 🙂 Other than that, nothing big. Maybe some wine and a black and white movie. Happy (anti) Valentine’s Day!
I never really go crazy on Valentine’s day. I think I enjoy it more now, when me and my boyfriend can afford a bit more – kind of like you. But we won’t do much. When he comes home from work, we’ll probably have dinner, some wine and watch a movie on TV, which is very much like what we do every day. 🙂 The only difference is that I’ll give him a small gift, and I know he’ll do the same, I just hope he didn’t spend too much money. I told him not to!
You look really gorgeous with that headband and red lips! 🙂
Hope you have a nice day.
xx

Even though I’m like the tenth person to say this you look amazing with the headband and red lips! Valentines is always a surprise in our home I always tell zac not to do anything big but he always does. I love it!
I just watched The Vow, has anyone ever told you that you look like Rachael McAdams? Love the headband and red lipstick on you!!
